The break down of the family unit is a major stress factor in life. The decisions that are made at the time of the break down are of tremendous importance and have a long lasting impact not only on the parties themselves but also the Children.

Where there are Children involved the parties are never truly separated but there is merely a restructuring of the family unit. It is important that the parties and their counsel treat each other with dignity and respect. If the parents can continue to treat each other with dignity and respect then that alone will promote dignity, respect and a high self-esteem in their children. The quality of parenting after separation need not suffer on family break down.
